A tractor trailer accident has closed the New York State Thruway between exits 20 and 21. All lanes are closed in both directions as of 6 a.m. and motorists are being advised to seek alternate routes. The Thruway Authority says the southbound truck crashed 5 miles south of exit 21 to Catskill and Cairo at about 4 a.m. Monday.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - State and local officials are set announce that dozens of people in central New York, the Mohawk Valley and Southern Tier have been charged with trying to defraud the state Unemployment Insurance program. They'll hold a press conference on the arrests at the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office at 11 a.m. Monday morning.
LAGRANGE, N.Y. (AP)? State Police say a man they stopped for speeding in Dutchess County had his drivers license suspended 17 times on 11 different dates for failure to appear in court or pay a fine. They impounded 27-year-old Luis Tavarez's car and released him after he posted about $1,000 bail. Troopers say Tavarez, who lives in North Arlington, N.J., was stopped Saturday in the town of Lagrange.
WOODBURY, N.Y. - Motorists on the Thruway should expect occasional stoppages after 9 p.m. this week near the Woodbury Toll Barrier. Workers will be installing overhead signs as part of the "Highway Speed E-ZPass" project. Depending on weather and other conditions, traffic will be stopped for about 15 minutes at a time between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday.
